Valor Econômico: UK companies will stop buying soy from areas deforested after January 2020 by 2025
Industries and retailers that account for 60% of the soybeans purchased in the UK have committed, by 2025, to stop buying the grain from areas that have been deforested or converted after January 2020. This was reported this Tuesday (9/11) in the Valor Econômico newspaper.
According to the newspaper, the commitment was signed in the UK Soy Manifesto and signed by 27 companies, including giants such as Nestlé UK, McDonald's UK, as well as some of the largest beef producers. Participants said the change will apply to both direct and indirect suppliers.
